The Brief
A managed service provider came to us with a profile that many MSPs would recognise: 12 years in business, strong client retention, a solid team, and virtually no brand presence worth speaking of.
Their logo was from 2008. Their website was a template with placeholder stock images still in the gallery section. Their proposals were Word documents – the same Word documents they'd been sending since the company was founded. They were an excellent company that looked like a mediocre one.
The Problem They Were Experiencing
They were winning pitches against smaller, less experienced competitors and losing pitches to flashier, younger agencies who had newer websites and slicker decks – even when the older MSP clearly had more relevant experience.
In conversation, their CEO put it simply: 'We keep losing to companies we know we're better than. But on paper, we don't look better.'
That's the MSP branding problem in a sentence. The service is good. The reputation is strong. But the visual presentation is undermining the credibility of everything behind it.
What We Built
The rebrand covered four interconnected areas:
- Brand identity: New logo system, colour palette, typography, iconography, and a comprehensive brand guideline document the team could actually use.
- Website: A new site built around conversion – clear service descriptions written for the decision-maker (not the IT manager), prominent case studies, a clear CTA on every page.
- Proposal template: A designed proposal template that structured their service offering clearly, included visual elements that made the pricing feel considered rather than arbitrary, and told a consistent brand story throughout.
- Social media creative kit: A set of branded LinkedIn templates the team could update themselves for company updates, job postings, and service spotlights.
The Results
Six months after the rebrand launched, their pitch close rate had increased by 40%. Not because the service changed. Not because the team changed. Not because the pricing changed.
Because the presentation finally matched the quality of the product behind it.
Their CEO shared one specific example: a prospect told them after signing that they'd been evaluating three MSPs and our client was the most expensive – but 'looked most like a company we'd want to grow with.' The brand had closed the deal before a single word of conversation.
Why MSP Branding Matters More Than MSPs Think
The MSP market is increasingly competitive. Buyers have more options, shorter patience, and higher expectations. In that environment, the brand is not a nice-to-have – it's a commercial differentiator.
When every MSP claims 'proactive monitoring,' '99.9% uptime,' and 'dedicated support,' the brand is what makes one feel more credible than the others. It's the visual shortcut to trust in a market full of similar-sounding promises.
