The 2026 B2B Creative Audit: 12 Questions to Ask About Your Marketing Materials Today

Why Audit Before Briefing

In B2B companies & SaaS startups most creative investment decisions are made reactively: something looks bad, someone complains about a deck, a campaign underperforms. The fix is commissioned, delivered, and the company moves on until the next thing looks bad.

This reactive approach produces incremental improvement at best and creative inconsistency at worst. A better approach is to audit systematically, to understand the full picture of where creative is working and where it isn't, and then invest based on commercial priority rather than whoever most recently flagged a problem.

Here is a 12-question audit across four categories. Score each question 1 (no) or 2 (yes). Maximum score: 24. What your score means is at the end.

Category 1: Brand Consistency

  1. Does everything your company produces, website, deck, LinkedIn, proposals, event materials, look like it came from the same company?
  2. Do you have a brand guideline document that your whole team can access and actually use?
  3. Is your logo reproduced consistently, correct colours, correct proportions, correct spacing, across all materials?

If you scored 3 out of 6 here, brand consistency is your most urgent creative priority. Inconsistency is the root cause of most other creative problems.

Category 2: Messaging Clarity

  1. Can a non-technical buyer explain what your company does after 30 seconds on your website homepage?
  2. Does your copy consistently lead with outcomes (what the buyer gets) rather than features (what you offer)?
  3. Is your competitive differentiator clear and different from what your three closest competitors say?

If you scored 3 or less here, messaging clarity is the highest leverage investment you can make. Clear messaging amplifies everything else you do commercially.

Category 3: Sales Collateral

  1. Does your sales deck consistently perform well at the proposalstage generating next steps rather than polite non-responses?
  2. Do you have a leave-behind document (one-pager or summary) thatyour champion can use to make the case internally after your meeting?
  3. Is your pricing presented in a way that makes the value feeljustified, rather than a number that needs defending?

If you scored 3 or less here, sales collateral is the mostcommercially direct creative investment you can make. These are the materialsthat sit in the room when buying decisions are made

Category 4: Digital and Social

  1. Does your social and digital creative stop the scroll — or does it look like the 12 other ads your target buyer saw before and after it?
  2. Is your website converting visitors into enquiries at a rate you're satisfied with (typically 2-5% for B2B)?
  3. Do your digital ads look and feel like your brand — or do they look like generic B2B digital advertising?

If you scored 3 or less here, messaging clarity is the highest leverage investment you can make. Clear messaging amplifies everything else you do commercially.

What Your Score Means
